Services—Techniques

Swedish Massage
This soothing, invigorating technique uses four basic strokes; effleurage, kneading, friction and percussion, all of which promote blood flow toward the heart to improve your circulation, and relax your whole body. Oil or lotion is used in most sessions.

Deep Tissue Massage
After first warming the muscles, the massage therapist uses slow, deep strokes, along with other massage techniques, to release tension from deep muscle groups and help you feel taller, lighter and looser.

Myotherapy
Myotherapy is a form of deep tissue massage using trigger-point therapy to affect patterns of muscular tension.

Neuromuscular Therapy
This specialized technique helps locate and release spasms at the same time it aids in eliminating trigger points that can cause referred pain to other parts of the body.

Hot Stone Massage Therapy
Heated and sometimes chilled stones can also be used as massage tools, depending on your needs and requests. Heated stones increase circulation and bring deep relaxation. Cooled stones are revitalizing and help to decrease inflammation.

CranioSacral Therapy
This light-touch technique works with the natural and unique rhythms of your body to pinpoint and correct source problems. Although the technique is subtle, the healing can be profound in bringing your physical system into healthy alignment.

Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete health care system with a written history of 2,500 years. It can effectively treat acute and chronic conditions, including muscular, gastro-intestinal, gynecological and respiratory disorders. TCM can also be used in conjunction with modern Western medicine in order to enhance the effects of Western medical treatment or to alleviate the side effects of medications.

TCM includes the use of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and moxibustion. Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points that have been determined to have beneficial
effects. Chinese herbal medicines may be used internally or applied externally. Moxibustion is a form of "fire heat treatment" that stimulates specific acupuncture points of the body.

The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), established in 1982 as a non-profit organization currently operates under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of the NCCAOM is to establish, assess, and promote recognized standards of competence and safety in acupuncture and Oriental medicine for the protection and benefit of the public.

Raindrop Therapy
Raindrop was developed by D. Gary Young, founder of Young Living Essential Oils. Nine essential oils are used in raindrop: 7 single oils and 2 therapeutic blends. The oils are gently massaged in the feet and on the back. The treatment is deeply relaxing and allows for the benefits of essential oils of oregano, thyme, basil, cypress, wintergreen, marjoram, and peppermint to be absorbed into the body.

Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Massage
The Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Massage (TM) address position and health of the pelvic and abdominal organs. The work is best known for the correction of the prolapsed, fallen, or tilted uterus and for the prevention and treatment of benign prostate enlargement in men, and for relief of many common digestive disorders. It is beneficial for women with menstrual pain or irregularities or who are wanting to enhance fertility. See www.arvigomassage.com for more information.

Massage for Pregnant Women and New Mothers
Prenatal massage caters to the special needs of pregnant mothers. Specific techniques can reduce discomforts and concerns, and also enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and baby. Tailor-made cushions are used so that the mother-to-be can lie on her stomach comfortably through most of her pregnancy. In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalance a new mother’s emotions and body, helping her take better care of herself and bond with her baby more deeply. We also offer private lessons to fathers or birth coaches in massaging birthing mothers during labor.

Seated Massage
Chair massage can be done at our location or yours, with a special massage chair. These massages focus mostly on the neck, shoulders, arms and the back while you remain fully clothed.
